My Instagram submissions from Northern Spark were featured on the Star-Tribune website
This past weekend I was in Minneapolis and I stumbled upon an event called Northern Spark. This event, which was the 2nd annual, brings together art in many forms and puts it on display for the public during one summer night from dusk until dawn. It took place in multiple locations around the city of Minneapolis and was attended by thousands of people. Northern Spark is an active celebration of the creativity of artists and the creative programming of cultural organizations. The organizers put a heavy emphasis on the power of social media in getting the word out about the event and the many projects on display there. Attendees were encouraged to “Tweet Early. Tweet Often.” and to use the hashtag #NSPK when doing so. I decided, being the social media nut that I am, to utilize my Twitter and Instagram accounts while enjoying the event and it paid off. People noticed my activity. The major daily newspaper in Minneapolis, the Star-Tribune, noticed and selected some of my Instagram submissions to be shown in an article about the sights seen at this year’s Northern Spark.
